House of Boys - Dinosaur Takeover
PARENTING // August 8, 2017
I suspect that just about any boy mom will tell you that the dinosaur phase is inevitable and will make a significant impact on just about everything in your home. With my oldest the dinosaur phase did not really hit until he was about four years old, making my middle guy just a little over two years old. Dinosaur fever has spread fast and furiously in our house, affecting the younger siblings earlier and earlier. I can't say that dinosaurs are one of my favorite topics and growing up one of three girls didn't exactly give me a ton of exposure to this phenomenon, which is why I've compiled a list of our favorite dinosaur resources for those parents who find themselves with dinosaur enthusiasts of their own.
sunday adventures - sunflower maze
PARENTING // August 6, 2017
I have always been a morning person. Sleeping past 7:30 am was considered late even before having kids, which is why I am always up for an early morning adventure. Before kids it was all about the early morning run or long walk with the dog and now that my youngest is almost twenty months old I am enjoying these summer weekends of planning a morning outing at the last minute. This week it was a trip to a local sunflower maze!
Summer Farm CSA week #3
PARENTING // June 29, 2017
Another week on the farm and probably our favorite visit yet! The boys were able to take advantage of time in the Learning Garden this week where they helped water growing crops, pull garlic and beets, and explored in an enclosed dig area. The farm is bustling when we arrive and there is usually at least half a dozen other children (usually more) visiting for pick at the same time. The sense of community is real on the farm and our visits have quickly become the highlight of our summer schedule.
balancing style and function
DESIGN // June 15, 2017
Conceptualizing our new home was never difficult. Our efforts were spun out of the need for more bedrooms, desire for a separate play space for the boys that didn't leave toys overtaking the main living space, and the need for a better kitchen layout to accommodate dietary needs. As we mapped out our wish list it seemed as though we were being practical in our approach, starting with a basic design that allowed for simpler construction and hopefully a faster build.
